Zoo-Med Reptibator.

Just came across this on LLL web Page.

Is Any one have any experience with that one?? Look like enough for 2 clutches of BP.

I Probably Gonna have 1 next Year but I Prefer safety of eggs that savings on incubator.

If Any of you have experience with that one I'll be glad for any opinion

I used it this year with great success. I have successfully hatched 1 clutch so far out of it. It's just big enough to fit 2 - 6qt sterilite containers in it which are each big enough to hold 1 good clutch of eggs.

Did You Use additional external Thermostat or build in?? What kind of medium Did You use for Your eggs...

I used 100% (no fertilizer or chemicals in it) vermiculite for my substrate, with a 1.1 ratio by weight with water. I also used the on board thermostat with no external.

Don't bother, the thing doesn't hold humidity worth a bleep. Even with all the holes caulked, I couldn't get mine past 80% humidity. I guess it's fine if you are incubating in separate sealed boxes, but it's such a small incubator, that's a big waste.

Just get a Hovabator, remove the wafer thermostat, and hook a Herpstat up to it. You'll pay $20 more total, but you'll be able to put water directly in the base, set a light grid over it, and fit up to 5 clutches in there for substrateless incubation. That's what I am doing, and it is working beautifully.

I was Thinking about sealed Box and Hatchrite.. i don expect more than 1-2 clutches... i still need a female :P But I'll Appreciate all input and experience....

All it looks like to me is an overpriced styrofoam cooler. If I was looking into this item I would end up making my own for much cheaper. Even if you had to buy a whole new Herpstat just for this project, it would still be cheaper and you'll end up with a more reliable and trustworthy setup.

Not trying to bash Zoo-Med, I've had their 500R in the past with great success....I just personally trust Herpstat more, and they have more features.

Hmm Maybe you guys have a point... But that way I'll buy herpstat -II and use it for my adult and hatching rack what i need to buy as well, and use my existing herpstat for incubator.

On the other hand What About this ??

Actually, after looking into it deeper, I kinda like this little setup. If all I had was 1 or 2 small clutches and I didn't feel like dealing with the trouble of making my own and had the extra money I'd buy it, but not without testing it rigorously first. It's not an eye sore either! It's too hot around here these days to be messing around in the shop anyway :)

Yep if you'll already have a herpstat available there's not much else you'll need....I'm just throwing a wild guess of about $30 or less and you'll have a running bator.

There's plenty of threads with instructions for making your own here and elsewhere on the internet....even videos on youtube.

But that pro 148 would be a better buy for only $15 more...looks much more solid. Should help with any humidity problems mentioned in earlier posts about the reptibator.
