I've heard a lot of people saying they have dwarf/super dwarf retics...
What sizes do these animals grow to? Do they carry IBD?
They're absolutely gorgeous animals and while normal retics get massive if these are manageable it would be nice to get one.

All kinds of snakes do and I'm concerned if they did they'd pass it to my snakes, would rather not run the risk if there is a significant one.

I have both Dwarfs and Super Dwarfs...I love the all tremendously and will be breeding some of both this year and for the years to come...
In regards to size, "dwarf" is a relative term depending on who you ask and what they've breed. For the most part they can range SD-wise between 6' - 8'. For Dwarfs they can range from 8' to 14' Jamps that are technically classified as dwarfs. All of mine, have a parental lineage of between 8' and 11'.
I know there are many others who love this specific classification of Tic as much as I do and have way more experience.

Yes, all kinds of snakes can get IBD, it's not specific to a classification or species of snake. It's caught by exposure if I'm correct :confused: ?

Well if they carry it, arent symptomatic, then there is a chance I would end up getting one who was carrying it and run the risk of getting it.
When I started coming to this site IBD was this big scary thing and everyone brought it up in topics about people increasing the species that they own. I'm just trying to cover my bases.

It can affect all snakes and most reptiles in general if I'm not mistaken.
If you apply the proper QT methods and buy from a reputable breeder than you should be ok. ;)
EDIT: Usually boas are the ones that can carry the disease and not show any signs.

Yes, it's a big concern, but any species can get it from garter to conda...Knowing what you get and from who will better protect you from getting an animal with IBD...

That's why QT'ing is so important...
But I wouldn't worry about the Dwarf/SD's being specific IBD carriers...And I can say that with confidence because most of my collection is made up of Dwarfs and SD's...See my profile for a listing and if you have any questions or would like some direction to reputable breeders, please feel free to reach out...I LOVE THE DWARFS!!! hmmmm, that doesn't look right... :weirdface:weirdface

Like the others have said, I believe any snake can contract IBD but if they never come in contact with an affected snake then you should not have a problem. Super dwarfs should not get much bigger than this one.

She has doubled in thickness since that first pic and has only grown about 8 to 12 inches in length. She is 3 years old this summer. I have never had any problems with either of my 2 super dwarf retics. They can be a handful but they are well worth it.

Here's mine...She's a 2004, one of the early imports...I just cleaned her cage so I couldn't snap the pic one-handed (sorry :tears:)...But I love her and her sister because they have crazy cool patterning and minimal green/yellow...And their underbellies are hot too...

And here's my Dwarf Lavender...She's just a tad bit longer and 3x's as girthy (probably 2x's)...All should be breeding this year if the genetic gods are with me...She'll be bred to a Dwarf Purple and hopefully they'll throw some more Dwarfs my way...I love her!!!
