    Amel tends to mask hypo - so regular amels aren't that different from hypo amels (or hypomels).

    Well if you do hypo x amel stripe, the F1 will all be normals het hypo, amel, and stripe. Both are still simple recessive. It's just that in a double homozygous form, hypo amels aren't that different from regular amels.
