what makes an ivory an "ultra" ivory?

An Ultra Ivory is a retic. Thats the only Ultra Ivory i could find with a quick google search.

The "Ultra" term denotes the Ivory Super form of the Platinum retic with a bit more going on. We produced these animals by line breeding an Ivory Retic to its Platinum mother. In the clutch we made Platinums, Ivories and some Ultra Ivories. We were not expecting to see these oddities but very pleased to see something new in the clutch. They vary greatly from snake to snake and are quite confusing to explain. Obviously, the genetics of this mutation are throwing some curve balls at us and we don't fully know what is going on or what will continue to happen as we line breed it. Looking at this morph you can not help but think of the Albino Tiger Retic gene being involved, but it is not!

Well apparently, it's an ivory sired by Ben Siegels Graphite. I think those are brand new, I didn't know he named them yet.

Actually A ultra Ivory is Ben Siegels line. From what I understand they are made from Ben's line of yellow belly that he calls orangebellies. His line makes Ultra Ivories and Graphite Ivories. That is what I undersand but maybe we could get Ben to chime in since it's from his line of snakes.

ultra ivory balls are complicated. They hatch out and have alot of pattern and color and almost look like white super stripes. They continue to get even more intense over the first year. Amir got a couple and calls them rainbow ivories. Sadly--after the first year they tend to turn more normal. Last year or the year before at daytona we took a few pics of an ultra next to a super stripe and the similarities were uncanny. I produced approx half ultras and half ivories when I breed my graphite to any yellowbelly in my collection. SO--my current theory(and it changes all the time) is that ultras are possibly het graphite? I hope next year alot of questions about the graphite will be answered as I will be breeding my graphite male to one of his graphite female offspring and I hope it will produce all graphites.

another genetic mystery with the graphite--I bred him to a normal female and he made a paradox ivory which grew up and actually became a paradox ivory graphite. She is sold to a customer in italy, but we are still awaiting replacement paperwork(long story). Now I bred him to an albino female a couple of years ago and produced orangebelly het albinos--I just pipped a clutch from that pair, and bam--another paradox ivory. I am fairly confident thought that the origins of the graphite gene come from my orginal orangebelly male. I have sold orangebellies from him and have had a customer produce a graphite, and have also sold an ivory produced from him that has produced a graphite. We have also produced a handful using him as a breeder as well.

is the orangebelly your line of yellowbellies?

yes it is--it is fully compatible with all yellowbellies.

so did the graphite ivory a super orange belly or an orange belly to a yellowbelly? or was he brought from africa like that?

Here is our original orangebelly male that started our bloodline. He is 8 years old and we got him as an import from ghana. We found him and another female yellowbelly in one shipment we imported, but there was something different about him. He was way prettier than most yellowbellies and incredibly blushy and orange. Even in this pic as an old man he is still a pretty attractive ball python.
That same year we purchased and adult wild caught female that I thought was a yellowbelly. Alot of people doubted that she was one, but I had a good feeling about her--she was a dark type yellowbelly. She was big and thin, but started feeding right away. Was not until approx 18 months later that she finally had her first clutch from her after she settled in. We bred this male to her and made 2 ivories. We sold them both for quite a bit of money. The following year the female baby that came in with the ob male was of breeding size and this one went again as well. That year we made 5 ivories--the graphite and 4 others. We kept the graphite and have used him as our primary ivory breeder. He has fathered some very unusual stuff including the weird ultra babies and this other paradox as well which ended up being a paradox graphite ivory

I felt so bad for the original og orangebelly this year I threw him a couple of normal females to have fun with!

thanks for the info. I love that graphite ivory i hope i can produce some one day. BTW if you dont need that ob i have an open tub and some yb females and an ivory for him.:D
