question

So right around the same time my girlfriend got me my snake she also got a kitten (7 weeks) and she wont shut up about keeping the snake from getting to her. Would my BP kill the kitten?

Your snake would probably strike in defense to scare the cat away but it would not constrict.

I would just keep them separated. It's a bad mixture. A kitten that is curious and wants to play with everything and a snake that is afraid and defensive...

Usually my (three) cats don't get to interact with the snakes, but just today one of my corns bit my little cat! She happened to walk past as Coraline was sticking her head out, while I was checking her tub for poop... as soon as Bindi the cat got close, Coraline lurched and struck. Left her with a mouthful of cat fur, but both animals were fine - and clearly the corn had no intention of eating the cat, and was just defending herself. Scared the heck outta me, though!! :weirdface

Bottom line, cats and snakes shouldn't be allowed near each other. But if they cross paths by chance, it's unlikely either will get seriously hurt... unless you plan to get a Burmese Python, the cat will not be tempting as prey. I'd actually be more worried about the kitten hurting the snake, so tell that to your girlfriend! :P

The kitten will not stay small forever, it will get used to the snake being out, at least ours did, the cats now show no interest in the snakes.

Two of my cats are completely uninterested, and my dog will actually walk away if they get too close... but the little cat Bindi is a troublemaker, and just can't get over them! She was a feral rescue, so I think the predatory instinct is too strongly ingrained in her. :cool:

well cats came from family of tigers and lions...

and snakes usually live in the same habitat as them...

and based on what i've watched in discovery channel, those two animal groups dont really like each other very well. :|
