So, I decided to use a heat lamp for my enclosure, Would I still need to use a UTH?:confused:

Yes you really should use a UTH. Ball pythons require belly heat to be able to digest their food. The heat lamp will just dry out the enclosure and make it difficult for you to keep up your humidity.

I agree. A UTH should be your primary heat source. If your ambient levels are low then you can up the temperatures with a lamp.
Lamps dry out the air and should be avoided.

when I first bought all my heating supplys for my bp it included a heat lamp. Since getting a UTH I rarely use the heat lamp. As long as my ambient temps are 79 or above I do not turn on the heat lamp. Besides it turns any enclosure into a desert.

You only need to use the light if you can't keep your ambient temp stable.

bp's do not need any type of light. Like Python1024 mentioned. Only use the light to keep your ambient temps stable. The light will suck any humidity out of your tank. I compensate with a wet/damp towel on part of the screened lid. Have not used the the light since March when it was still cold. The landlord here does not crank the heat up. :(

Compact fluorescent lights put out almost no heat. I am not sure if they make them in blue or red though.

I think I read somewhere on here to be careful about which type of night light you use. I think you have to use one that is in a light spectrum the snake cant see. Infrared? Not sure but before you make a decision you will want to clear that question up...
