My girlfriend may want a lizard, but she doesnt know what kind to get.
I'd say something small since she is a jobless college student so she'd need something easy that she wouldnt need to feed mice to (Beardies).

Beardies are cool and make great lizard pets, but take a moment and consider Blue Tongued Skinks. Just as docile, grow a bit larger, not as common, very impressive looking. I'm a teacher and have both beardies and a blue tongue in my classroom. By far the favorite is the blue tongue.

You dont need or have to feed mice to beardies. I dont even think its recommended

Beardies are really cool though. I dont see how size is an issue.

    But definitely look into geckos.

    Crested geckos!

Awesome colors, tame, don't need to eat bugs, they can eat the powder diet sold online, but they do love bugs :D

No special lighting, and any temps over 80 are pretty bad for them, so they like room temps.

    Crested or leopard gecko.

Personally, I would go with a leopard gecko. For some reason they are just my preference. But cresties are very good pets, very minimal husbandry requirements (biggest problem is humidity really and thats not even a biggie)..

Cresties all the way! You don't even have to feed them insects if you have them on the Crested Gecko Diet. They're pretty easy to take care of, and don't require a huge tank.

if shes a jobless college student then why even get a pet?? she may want one but can she provide a good home and be there to feed it, let it out and supervise, vet bills, clean it? nevermind the size of a lizard, ask her these things first

She still lives with her family and is in Job Corps who pay her a little to go to school, she has had hamsters many times and hasnt had many problems with them, her last one just died after about 2 and a half years of having it. If she needs to go to the vet she will either ask her family for help or me.
