One year old! (or so & pics)
    yaaayyyy :fest2:

lol... so I guess its about my snakes mark for one year of life... and finally might have a solid name... I dont really see the point in giving her a name but if anything I've decided on SHEEP...

I bought her July 19th 2009 as a hatchling so I figure she was probably only a month or two old if that... actually I think she only had one or two meals when I got her...

anyway here are some pics... she JUST shed. As in today so shes looking extra nice :D

How is she looking size wise? She seems to have had a growth spurt recently. Which is weird.

Sorry if these pics come up big... the last thread I tried to put pics in made the pics bigger then the size I re-sized them too :/ i guess its a photobucket thing

She looks fine for a year old, not real big per say but as long as she eats fairly regularly and she's a pet who cares how much weight she packs on :)

If you resize your pictures with any photo app before uploading to photobucket you'll get more uniform pictures.
I use 800X600 for full page pics without being too large.

    I like her pattern!

I was gonna say though, she looks like a healthy weight, but small for a year old? My 1 year old is about 2 and half times that big, maybe it is a male?

Males dont get as large as the females...

Regardless of all that, that is an endearing ball python...

    wow i hate laptops...

anyway... I feed her two hopper mice a week, maybe i should move on to three...? I bought 100 in bulk so yeah... i have about 20-30 left... i want to move on to weanlings or adult mice im not sure whats best for her size though.

I was feeding her two hoppers when she was smaller and she looked like she got fat so I stopped that for a while...

I usually resize them in microsoft paint first but last time photo bucket made them come up bigger...

Re: One year old! (or so & pics)
If she is a female i would definitely say she is too small, my female is 1 year old and twice as long almost, and much much wider, she can eat 3 adult mice in one sitting and probably go for a 4th, switch over to adult mice right away, ball pythons are supposed to look kinda chunky in the midsection so I would not worry about an overweight snake, when they are growing rapidly it is more difficult for them to get fat, everything they eat is being devoted to growth...

I would try feeding her a little more often as well, maybe every 5 days with a bigger mouse, see how that works...

Now that I look closer she is barely the size of your hand, if she is really a year old she needs to be much larger, I would definitely say an adult mouse every 5 days or so, as long as your temps are correct she will start to grow rapidly, you will notice right away trust me!

    If you say so!

Also i think these pics might be a bit tricky, shes over 2 feet long, shes about 28" from head to tail.

Ill try feeding her more today. She also hasnt been eating much for the last 2 weeks cause she was in shed so maybe thats part of it... Ill try feeding her more today. And I cant get adult mice for two weeks or so, at the reptile show I buy bulk from rodent pro.

They go from weanling to large adults, is that the same as just "adult"? 20-30g a mouse...

My temps are fine, 92 and 80 (gets cooler from A/C and fans on...) she always used to hide under her water dish which i hate cause i have two perfectly good hides and now shes finally starting to use them because shes to big to fit under the dish...

I have a female that is also about one year old. She is over 40 inches long and weights close to 1300 grams right now. She eats 2 small rats or 1 small rat and an adult mouse every week or so. I agree you should probably bump up your snakes meal size. Good looking snake by the way.

Re: One year old! (or so & pics)
The pic is definitely deceiving, she didnt look 2 ft long, a snake that length should handle larger mice no problem, just experiment a little, try increasing feeding frequency or give her more mice per feeding if u cant get adult size yet, where I get my mice they go from adult to large adult so I cant say for sure how your rodent supplier measures them, I have never wieghed my mice or rats, I just go by the width, I try to give them rodents atleast as wide as the snakes widest part, if not a little wider...

But she is definitely still small for her age I would say, and she could be a little plumper and it sure would not hurt her, like I said ball pythons are supposed to look pretty thick in the middle...
