    worried about strange underbelly coloring
okay i have three ball pythons. one i have had for over 3 yrs. the other two i got from someone about a year ago. they are supposed to be one male and one female. they were both little and under weight. they are finally starting to put on good weight and they have been doing great. untill last week. the female iis really good size and we took her out and her underbelly was a dark yellowish, well over the last couple of days it has went into a really darkish orange color. she also got nipped by a small rat the week before but the small place has healed completely and does not look infected. so i dont know if that could of caused this color change or what could. i am really worried. any input would be greatly appreciated.

How are you heating your enclosure?

I have the same question, how are you heating your enclosure? Are you using a thermostat to control the temps?

sounds like it could either be a burn, early signs of belly rot, or just the starting of a shed cycle.

Is the color very uniform over the whole belly?

In addition to the questions above, what are you using for substrate? What are you cleaning your enclosures with? Can you post some pics of it?

I'm no pro and I have little experience, but my BP's belly turned pinkish/orangish before shedding

thats just it nothing has changed in her cage in the year or so i have had her. everythings been fine. its not just the pinkish color she has always had before a shed. its alot different than that. her scales on her belly look fine and healthy other than the color. she moves fine, acts normal as she ever has. its just weird it came on so suddenly. was also curious if maybe she could possibly be something other than just a normal. the girl i got her from had no idea on her background or origins. or maybe possibly her age and weight or something like that. i am at a loss here. like i said i have had one of mine for years and have never saw anything like this. and i dont know how to post a pic. sorry.

Without pics your asking people to guess.

Photobucket account, upload pics, copy and paste IMG tag into the forum box.

You should answer the questions we have asked so that we can help determine the problem.
