    Pics?

I think they can pass hair without digesting it, but a tail makes me think it might be a regurge.

    Are you using belly heat?
    What are the temperatures?
How / With what are you measuring them?

Also, are you sure it was eaten? I've heard they can hide them and you won't know the difference between an uneaten and a regurge a few days later.

Maybe the tail just fell off with some hair after a struggle but the rest went down.

How could it regurge only a tail?

I'm thinking they're attached. Perhaps they were separated by digestion before the regurge? It sounds very odd. This is why I ask for pics.

How could the tail just fall off with some hair? How could the tail pass all the way through without being digested?

it is pooping wet sticky things? What do you mean? Could you get a picture?

Also, why were you feeding it a gerbil? Whats wrong with mice or rats?

What do you use for heat then?

your temps are 84F-87.8F which is low especially since it is not belly heat. My guess is that your snake did not digest and absorb as much of his meal as he could have had he been getting belly heat from an UTH.They help with the snakes digestion.

Gerbils often have chemical immunizations from pet stores and should not be fed to snakes. Same with hamsters and "fancy pet-only mice" from Petsmart.

What are the exact temperatures in the cage? What kind of heat are you using? I would get a fecal sent to a local reptile vet to check for parasites.

Gerbils tails will come off as basically a defense mechanism. The snake probably pulled the tail off when it coiled it.
