Overfeed??

Ok, I just fed my 125 g lesser a mouse on saturday (two days ago) with complete ease. Like, it took her about 4 min to finish the whole thing. It went in her mouth extremely easy, she didnt have to force it down or anything. She still looked hungry afterwards but I didn't have another one to give her. I was planning on giving her another one so I bought another mouse (smaller than the first) about 20 min ago to give to her but I just read that it's possible to over feed her. She no longer has the lump in the middle of her from the previous mouse and she has just started her shed. I was thinking about giving her another one now because she probably wont eat again until after her shed. I'm really confused on what to do, please help me :confused:

If you underfeed one week, wait until the next week to feed her the appropriate amount. Don't offer more often than every five days as it can stress them out. You can see if she'll eat during shed, but you might end up wasting the mouse if she won't. Over feeding shouldn't really be an issue unless you're feeding every two or three days. They'll grow fat instead of really growing.

So should I try and give it to her since I already bought it? Or are you saying that since its only been a couple days that it will end up stressing her out?

I would wait.

I was just adding that overfeeding itself isn't a big issue. Unless it's constant. Then they can get fat.

Oh dont apologize! i would rather you rant than not comment at all lol. Well in that case... what do I do with the LIVE mouse lol. I dont think my parents are gonna go for a live rodent living in my bedroom...

Well, you can keep it in something it can't chew out of. Any edge will give it a way out. I've used a tall trashcan with totally smooth sides and bottom. An aquarium with newspaper, water, and bread. A little plastic critter keeper. Maybe you can return it tomorrow and buy another next week?

You can kill it. If you decide to kill it, I suggest swinging it by the tail and whacking it's head off an edge. That's the quickest way I can imagine. Unless you miss. Then freeze it.

Considering it's live, I'd try to feed it. I didn't know that.

Ok, I'll try to feed it and I'll get back to you. I'll only leave it in the same box as my snake for a couple min. If it doesnt take it, Ill take it out and decide what to do with it after... Be right back :)

ok well she didnt take it. She was very defensive against it. I could tell she couldn't see it at all. Her eyes are way to grey. I put the mouse in a plastic garbage can with aluminum foil on top with holes punched in it. I also put some gram cracker crums with a water dish too. And by some i mean a mound lol. The water dish is pretty shallow so it cant drown. I hope this works...

That's probably fine. Good luck with the little guy. They don't seem to like crumbs to me. They would eat their food and break it into crumbs at the same time, and leave the crumbs. I gave them bread before I got real food blocks for them. They seem to like rice too. And no, it won't make them explode. Any dry grain should be good for them. Stuff like carrots, lettuce, and apples are good, but they have so much water, they can give it diarrhea.

A piece of bread or a few whole gram crackers should be good for the night or more. They just don't seem to like crumbs from what I've seen.

Ok. Im just gonna leave him in there overnight to see how he does. If i need to change something in the morning I will. Thank you so much for help I really appreciate it. I would have absolutely no idea how to keep a mouse using common household supplies lol.
