Do people think your crazy for breeding?
Ok.
I want to know how all your friends/family or whoever thinks about you breeding. Whenever I tell someone they look at me like :O and then I'm all like :weirdface and then there like  and I just  lol
People also like to give me the whole, there isn't a market for reptile breeding and that its pointless to get into. I personally am not breeding to start some huge business but to further my hobby and obviously have some return on my investment, but I can't keep em' all unfortunately so selling is inevitable. People just don't believe there are that many people out there buying reptiles I guess. I'm just tired of people thinking I'm a nut...even though I am lol. But I think people think its a far fetched idea and that its stupid, and that bothers me. Anyone else run into this?
Re: Do people think your crazy for breeding?
lol you should see the reactions i get from people. specially when iI amit to not liking spiders but am on handling any snake.
they like you will handle a vemouns snake but not a spider I am like :D that right they  then they just say I am:rolleye2: anyhow for having snakes lol.
Re: Do people think your crazy for breeding?
Besides talking to co-worker & family, I don't tell anyone. People tend to look at you funny when you start talking about anything having to do with snakes.

Re: Do people think your crazy for breeding?
I come from a long line of humans that insist on breeding animals so my family and friends never react to the "breeding" part it is the snake part, but when we talk genetics and talk about what it entails, end product, projects, etc. they suspend that and can get really into it.
And there are lots of kids under 12 in my circle, so it gives uncle bruce a fair bit of cachet... and you cannot beat that. :)
My family is more interested inthe market aspect of it in comparison to the hobby aspect, how we (snake people) connect and what that looks like. We have good talks about it, so it is all good.

oh yea my girlfriends family wont even come in our house because i own snakes and people always look at me stupid when im talking about them
Re: Do people think your crazy for breeding?
Wow! Thats a serious phobia that woman must have lol
Re: Do people think your crazy for breeding?
I get mixed reactions when I say I raise/breed reptiles but it comes with the territory. Different strokes for different folks is how I've always responded. If they think I'm crazy, oh well! At least I don't have to worry about them stopping by for a visit at my house :D. LOL

I do notice the little ones enjoy them a lot! I live in a development and all my neighbors kids flock over to my house whenever they see me outside to ask me questions. After they knew I take care of them and "make babies" it was a rap. I'm sure all their parents loved that ;)
Its really the older generations that frown harshly upon reptiles. My grandmother thinks its horrible what I do, and somewhat shuns me for it now. She thinks cramming them into tubs and not exposing them to their natural environment is cruel and just doesn't understand how a tub can fit their housing needs. This sucks just because my grandma is someone I am very close to and think very highly of, and she thinks my hobby is for weirdo's and cruel people I guess...I usually don't talk about it anymore when shes around.
