Leaving food in at all times?
The breeder I got my leos from said that he leaves a few mealworms in the tubs all the time and feeds crickets a few days a week. Is there anything wrong with this? He says that they just eat when they are hungry and grow pretty fast and there arent any problems. I just wanted to see what everybody else thought.
To me it seems fine because I wouldnt think that a leo would over eat just because there is food there, and they dont move much like crickets so they wont cause stress...
Re: Leaving food in at all times?
You can leave mealies in the tank all the time, just make sure they are in a bowl that they can't get out of and the Leo can get in to. I find glass ashtrays work well, around $1 at Walmart.
Change the mealies out though, you want to make sure they are nice and gutloaded. Just take the old ones out and pop new in after a day or so.

I feed Superworms and leave them in 24/7. And I feed them roaches 1 or 2 times a week. The worms are in a container with Vitamins.

You can leave mealies in 24/7 without a problem. Since calcium really doesn't stick to meal worms I will put some calcium in the bottom of the bowl, so when my leo grabs a meal worm, they also get some calcium as well. The leo will also be able to lick up calcium when they feel they need it as well. I do put a small piece of carrot in the bowl as well so the meal worms have something to feed on. It helps keep them a little more active and moving around...not to mention keeping them a bit more gut loaded for a longer period of time.

I do the exact same thing. I use one of the worm dishes from petco. I keep some calcium in the bottom, and a small piece of carrot. I feed crickets a few times a week, and I'm wanting to start raising dubia's soon.
