Help! Belly Wound!

My i took my snake out today amd i noticed i pink area on his belly. I think it may may be a burn, but i can't tell. His UTH is on the cheap Hygrofarm thermostat from amzon and its set to 93*. Here is a picture

I put some neosporin on it, any other advice? I'm really worried and seriously considering taking him to the vet. Sorry i couldnt get a better picture

Do you have a temp gun to verify the temp of the area where the UTH is?

It looks like it could be a burn, but it's hard to tell from the photo. If you are using anything like aspen, cypress, and such for substrate go ahead and remove it and put down paper towel to help keep it clean. Where do you have the thermostat probe located?

Yeah, i just checked, the uth was around 95 with the ocassional jump to 96 or 98. I feel really bad i thought i had the probe set up right.

Ok, ill do that with the paper towel. The Probe for my thermostat is just taped to the glass. I figured it could be innacurate becasue the probe is basically a metal cylinder and i really don't know where it takes the temp from so i figured just laying on the glass would do the trick.

Do you have it mounted between the UTH and glass, or is it inside the tank?

As for the burn, a trip to the vet might be a good idea in case you need antibiotics or something like that to prevent infection...

Is a large part of her belly red or is it just that one spot?

the probe is between the glass and the substrate, so it goes UTH, Glass, Probe,Substrate. Is that incorrect? Anyway, i took him out, put on more neosporin, and replaced the cypress with paper towels. I took a few pictures, hopefully they show the burn better

EDIT: It's just that one spot thats red Vypyrz

The thermoSTAT probe should be on the outside of the enclosure though the thermoMETER probe should be inside the enclosure under the substrate right on the glass. The thermostat probe should be taped directly to the UTH.

The more I look at that pic the less I'm thinking it may be a burn. Burns usually cover more area. From what I can tell, that looks more like a cut or tear. Is there anything in her enclosure that has sharp edges that she could have crawled over, or did you feed recently, where she might have been injured by the prey?

I had the exact same thought. It doesn't look like a burn to me. Its too localized to be from a heat pad.

I think the neosporin should do the trick. I had a pretty nasty burn on one of my bps and just made sure she had brand new paper towel at all times and covered the wound in neosporin, bacitracin. After a couple weeks and a shed or two she is pretty much good as new!

Nothing beats a trip to the vet though.
