    First f/t feeding!
So, as everyone knows, my girl got bit in the eye by her live prey. After skipping a meal, and just shedding, I had a feeling she was going to be rather hungry. So, I figured "What the heck! I'll try to feed her the f/t today." So I came home from work today at around 9. I grabbed a container filled it with warm water, and placed the mouse in it for about 13 minutes. Pulled it out of the baggie, and just dipped it directly into the water for a minute, if that. Pulled it back out, and dried it off. I then dangled it over a hot light for 10 seconds. I then began to offer it to her. After just a mear minute, she striked. And let me tell you, I almost had a heart attack. XD So I pulled away, by instinct. After realizing what I did, I dangled the mouse again. Took her a while to get interested again, but she did. And once again, I pulled away by accident. This time I figured "darn it! Now she won't eat at all!" But I tried once again, just for the hell of it. Third times a charm. I placed the mouse down, and just kinda pushed it around with the tongs. And she grabbed it! =D I knew that didn't mean she would be eating it though. I covered the box, and went away for a few minutes. I just peeked back in, and she's got the whole head in her mouth! I checked again, just this moment, and she's got the whole things down!! I am to excited for words! I'm so glad to know she's taken the f/t mouse well, even with my mistakes! Just proves at how great of a champ she is at eating! Sorry, this was so long, I just had to share my excitement, and her eye is looking really good to. Getting better everyday for sure!

Glad to hear your snake is doing well, and the eye is healing. I did not have very good luck with the f/t. My snake has been feeding on live mice (which I am breeding). I was just trying to get rid of some f/t I had in the freezer. Both attempts ended up with the mouse in the garbage the next morning. :(

No worries though, still breeding mice...and just started a colony of ASF rats. :)

Thanks both of you! I was honestly shocked she ate. On account she was harmed, and it was a f/t. So it just made me all the more excited she took it! I think she's still hungry on account she's roaming her cage. I wish I had more for her, and I feel bad I don't, but I wasn't even expecting her to take this. But now I know next time. Good luck with the mice and ASF's Savage!

    Thanks,

I was wondering, so I dont have to go threw all 50 posts on your other thread. Was the eye problem associated with feeding live? And, will you no longer be offering live prey?

Yes, the eye was associated with live feeding. I don't know if it happened while she constricted it, or what. As of right now, I will no longer offer her live. Maybe when she gets older, but as long as she's more then willing to take the f/t I'm going to offer it to her. I'd hate to have another accident due to live feeding. The only reason I would offer her live, would be if she ended up off feed, for what ever reason.

    And thanks Vypyrz. =]
