    Feeding Advice on new arrival
I will be picking up my first Ball Python in the next few days. She is currently feeding on live. I want to get her on F/T.

By my calculations after a week to settle in she will be 2-3 days past her normal feeding time.

Can I try to feed her a F/T prey, or since she is new and just settling in, shoudl I stick with live for a period of time and then try F/T.

I had thought about trying a F/T on one day, if it fails ( leave it overnight if zombie routine doesnt get a response) and if still not eaten go get a live prey the next day.

Let me know your thoughts and thanks for answering my noob questions.

If she doesn't take the f/t you should wait 3 days before you offer her anthing else. Offering food too often may add some stress and being she is in a new home I would wait. Good luck with your new freind and hopefully she will go for the f/t.:hungry:

Since she is currently eating live, I would feed live for about the first month until she gets settled in and eats consistently then start trying to convert her over. This will also give you time to make sure your husbandry is correct and establish a routine with her...

    Agree with Vy.
I would start the snake on live, and get her well established and used to a routine, and THEN work on converting her.

I only offer once a week when trying to feed an animal that is refusing

I also always offer them F/T from the day I get them on, never live or pre-killed

But then again, I have the "never get a refusal f/t feeding method"

Now with babies coming, I might be singing a different tune
