Weight and Age of BP
Ok, so I'm not good with numbers or math or anything, but I have a 4 yr old male BP who I'm about to weigh. So in grams, what's a healthy number?

Re: Weight and Age of BP
I've heard 500 grams per foot. I hear more often that there's no standard.

I would say anywhere 700+ would be normal size.

Re: Weight and Age of BP
It's really impossible to say, because no two snakes grow at the same rate.
I have two '09 females who are less than 3 weeks apart in age, one is already pushing 1000 grams, the other is barely 600.
It depends on the snake, the previous owner and how they fed, has the snake ever gone off feed, lots of variables affect the size.
Unless the snake is visibly extremely skinny, whatever weight it is should be okay.

Some males rarely push more than 800 grams, and are healthy, while others can weigh over 2000 grams, and are also healthy. It depends on the length and the build of the male.

As long as he looks like a healthy size then the weight doesn't really matter! At that age, he should be over 800 grams!

Re: Weight and Age of BP
Hi everyone!
I'm a new BP owning as of friday. The place I got him has a chart showing that he seems to be eating every other week and I know young BP should be eating every weekish (should I be concerned?). I'm wondering if he is a healthy weight, he doesnt look too skinny to me.
He is about 4 months old I think. So on average what weight should he be?
Thanks for the advice!

Re: Weight and Age of BP
Some just only want to eat every two weeks. It doesn't sound like a bad thing. He'll probably just grow a little slower.
Because of that, weight has little relation to age. If he doesn't look skinny and is eating (even if it's a little less), he's fine.

Re: Weight and Age of BP
For young ones especially, there is no average. They will sometimes eat a lot and grow slowly, or eat a lot and grow quickly.
If the snake is young and not eating as often as normal, then it will probably be on the smaller side.
