Help with a home made hide!
Hi all!! I just made a clay hide based on this DIY post: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showthread.php?t=77863 Just to say, mine didn't turn out right...... it kind of looks like a boob for some reason, it has cracks, and part of it bubbled up at the top. hence the name. I think this might not fit this section, but it doesn't seem fit to post it where others are telling you how to do it. but i also thought it was funny how it browned on top, and bubbled. so i figured i'd show it with you!!! SOOOOOO.... Here is what it looked like, (sad isn't it?) :( And LOL!! kind of gives meaning to that DIY's title: how to make a "realistic" hide. HA!!! and no one please get offended by this post.

Here's my ball python zeus, (male snake). slithering up on top of his new found hide kind of exploring it...... :P

And here he is nice and happy inside his new boob hide, (thats my boy!!!:D) he seems to like it in there, but it is crumbly, and might cave in on him, notice the split on the entrance? it happened when he was exploring around it on top. :)

i will need some pointers how to make a non boob like, not crack filled, or crumbly, any help???

uh you could try just getting a plastic bowl from the dollar store or using a high quality clay that you bake.

Whatever you do, I wouldn't use that hide. It will most likely just fall apart. Also, it needs to be sealed properly.
