Re: Flukers clamp lamp setup
I set my lamp on top of the screen. It seems to be fine just make sure the snake doesn't climb to close the bulb or it could probably burn but i doubt the snake would even try to do that.
Re: Flukers clamp lamp setup
Thanks. What watt bulb do you use?
Re: Flukers clamp lamp setup
60w ceramic and I just leave it on all the time
Re: Flukers clamp lamp setup
All the time? lol. Not worried bout it starting a fire?
Re: Flukers clamp lamp setup
Not really. it sits on a metal screen

x2. I really don't think the snake can get burned on the bulb since the screen is between the bulb and the snake. I've had mine set up like that for over 9 months now and never had a problem.
Re: Flukers clamp lamp setup
Thanks. I wasn't worried bout the snake getting close, I just don't wanna come home to my house on fire! lol
Re: Flukers clamp lamp setup
Its a light bulb.....Surely you have left a light on overnight? Did your house catch on fire?
Think about it, if anything on your reptiles enclosure gets hot enough to cause a fire overnight, your animal would be long dead hours before anything caught on fire.
I would recommend against the heat lamp completely. I see you live in Florida. Assuming your normal house temperature is around 75* daily, you don't need the bulb at all. An under tank heater controlled by a thermostat will get the job done.
Re: Flukers clamp lamp setup
so I just set up my 40 gallon tank with a under tank heater for 50-60 gallon terrariums and i also have the 10" clamp-lamp.... do i need both? or am i good with one or the other?
