    Flukers clamp lamp setup
I have a 60 watt bulb in my flukers lamp, but the tank i have doesnt really have a good lip to clamp it on. Will it be ok to rest it on top of the screening?

I set my lamp on top of the screen. It seems to be fine just make sure the snake doesn't climb to close the bulb or it could probably burn but i doubt the snake would even try to do that.

x2. I really don't think the snake can get burned on the bulb since the screen is between the bulb and the snake. I've had mine set up like that for over 9 months now and never had a problem.

Its a light bulb.....Surely you have left a light on overnight? Did your house catch on fire?

Think about it, if anything on your reptiles enclosure gets hot enough to cause a fire overnight, your animal would be long dead hours before anything caught on fire.

I would recommend against the heat lamp completely. I see you live in Florida. Assuming your normal house temperature is around 75* daily, you don't need the bulb at all. An under tank heater controlled by a thermostat will get the job done.
