Pastel makes weird hissing sounds?
My new pastel make a slight hissing sound sometimes when I pick him up. He's not hissing but sound like it when he breaths while I'm holding him, but not all the time. I don't hear any wheezing or gurgling sounds and no signs of mucus. Could this just a noise he makes? Or do you think RI?
Temps. are 82 cool side and 93 warm side.
Humidity is 60%
In a 32qt. rack with 11" flexwatt
Aspen bedding

thanks,
Dave
Re: Pastel makes weird hissing sounds?
I highly doubt RI, a huffing/hissing/wheezing sound alone isn't enough to diagnose that. Keep an eye on him but he was probably just expelling air quickly.
Both my balls do it on occasion and both are healthy as can be.

Re: Pastel makes weird hissing sounds?
If he was only making the noise right when you picked him up it was probably a hiss.

Might be a little bit of shed skin stuck in his nose area. Just in case though I would keep an eye on him for any signs of a RI.
Re: Pastel makes weird hissing sounds?
Ive got a normal girl that does this exact same thing. Sometimes shell do it a few times when holding her sometimes I dont hear it for weeks from her. Shes as healthy as she can be. It can really make you go crazy though. The first few times she did it I swear I had her up to my hear for about 15 minutes trying to hear for any wheezing or popping sounds indicating an RI. As someone else said though, just keep a close eye :)
