Update on fasting, Need new hides; not feeling secure enough?
My snake hasn't been eating. It's been possibly 3 months now. And having a fasting for that long, he has been losing weight, but not an extreme amount. (He's 641g when he used to be 715g). What he would do was just sit inside his hide, preferably the cool side (I don't know why, the warm side was always 92-94* gradient) and ignoring anything I give him. (He used to eat small rats, but then what lead him going off-feed was intimidation, so I gave him small mice, but that didn't lead him into hunger. He has always eaten F/T). It wasn't till some time ago last month that he was feeling a little 'restless' and decided to 'upgrade' to the back of the tank. Now I have this Cork Tile from Zoomed that you use to give your terrarium a natural, wood-looking background. I never glued it on, I just kind of let it sit there with this tree accessory holding it up. Now he enjoys sleeping between the glass and the cork tile I have there rather than his hides. I bought the cork tile a6 months ago and he never slept between them before until recently. I don't see why the hides would be too big since he used them since July of last year.. I have bad luck when It comes to making hides which is the cheapest thing you can do. I make them either too small or too big.. The hides I'm using right now are these: http://www.reptilebasics.com/medium-hide-box.html

Do you think this: http://www.reptilebasics.com/small-hide-box.html would be perfect for him? or is that too small?

I apologize for this thread to be too verbose than necessary, but I don't have a camera that works right now, and I just want people to be clear about what's happening.

Hate when this happens... how big is his encloser and did he eat in it before? Not to sure if 3 months is anything out of the normal... try scenting be for offering for some reason it got mine to eat later, i just left the mouse around before offering and i fed once it seemed my snake was looking for it.

I think you just have to experiment with the variables like the hide until it eats...

You can try filling its enclosure completely with crumpled newspaper, leaving it alone for a week, and then trying to feed it again. (Try both leaving the FT in there overnight and heating and dangling.)

I saw this trick on this site and it worked for me after my female fasted for about 2 months. She now takes an FT left overnight completely on schedule.

    Good luck!
