Building a big terrarium, needs help.
So I am getting a Burmese python soon, and this is going to be my first. :D
But I'm also wanting to build a large tank for it. Will 2 1/2 m x 2 1/1 m x 7 1/2m be enough? (btw its a triangular form so it fits in a corner)
But I'm just asking. :snake:
Re: Building a big terrarium, needs help.
2 1/2 Meters by 7 1/2 Meters? If you mean meters then its going to be HUGE! Thats like 21 feet long. Thats nuts. I certainly hope you dont mean 21 feet tall :8:
Re type your measurments so we know what you mean for sure. A cage that is 8ft long and 3 to 4 ft deep is usually the smallest recommended size for an adult burm. Doesnt need to be tall at all. They are terrestrial and do not need to climb.

Yeah that's what I was trying to say, I do the x because I was just out of my algebra class. :/
But that's all you need for an adult burm?
Thanks a lot :D
Re: Building a big terrarium, needs help.
8 ft is the smallest recommended but if you get a female you may eventually want something a little bigger depending on how big she gets. I knew a guy that had a female that was 19ft. She was nick named "cow" due to her size. He converted an 8ft x 6ft walk-in closet for her. Females can get quite a bit bigger.
There are some nice pics of home made cages you can find if you search the giant pythons forum. Ive seen some nice ones that people have their retics in.

http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/s...ytime05022.jpghttp://i588.photobucket.com/albums/s...h_100_1424.jpg I hope these pictures will help you with an idea. What it is, is someone gave us a patio door set, frame and all. one day, I figured out what to use them for. I had a Burmese Python that was growing fast. So, we seperated the four sectoins of glass and VERY carefully screwed them together by the frames with metal corner brackets. Built a sub floor to fit on the bottom of the phone booth size box we now had. For the top, we got some ultra heavy duty screen and sandwhiched that inbetween 2 frames we biult with re-enforing strips of wood across the middle parts of the top, so he couldn`t get on his perch we made from applewood branch we found in our back yard. we live in an old apple orchard. You could just as easily buy something simaliar. Now for the door, we used very secure latching locks all down where the door opens and put a horizontal door handle so we could open it easily. Hinged the other side, and basicly we were good to go. I hope the pictures I posted in this idea I had will put a light to what I am speaking about and maybe give you some ideas that will make housing your Burm easier. Good luck and happy building!!!:D;)

Probablly not what you had in mind, but maybe it will be helpful just the same.
