Did i set it up right?

Hey guys,

I just picked up a 5 tub rack, some flex watt, and a helix thermostat today. I put it all together but am not getting the temps I am looking for. My question is regarding the flex watt...I have it set-up as one continuous strip of heat tape from top to bottom running across each shelf. Would it make a difference if I cut the flex watt and made it so each shelf had its own piece of heat tape instead of one strand running continuously? I set the Helix for 85 but the screen has been showing 74 for since I plugged it in. Any help you guys can offer would be a tremendous help, this is my first rack and I'm feeling pretty noobish. Your probe might be placed in a bad spot.

Feel the heat tape? Is it hot to the touch?

I have all of mine run in one strand with no problems. It's most likely a problem with your probe, or with the connections to the heat tape.

1. Plug your heat tape dirrectly into the wall does it get to 90 degrees?(should only take seconds)
2. If that works then plug a lamp into the thermostat and set it one degree below room temperature then put the probe in your hand and see if you can get the light to come on and off using the heat from your hand. Does it function correctly?
3. If the heat tape and thermostat work then just move your probe untill you get desired temps.
