anyone used or know of Vetericyn
While I was picking up some supplies today, I was told of a new product called Vetericyn. From what it looks like, it could be the new cure all for a lot of ailments that may come up. May be good for pet hobbyist to keep on hand. Wanted to know if anyone has heard about or used the product. On the bottle itself, it states it could treat respiratory infections. The lady behind the counter, while not a vet, said it is the closest thing to Baytril without a vet visit. I haven't used and not stating any of this to be a fact but wondering if anyone has had any experience with this product.

    Hi,

Got a list of the active ingredients?

Is one of them "snake oil" by any chance? :P

They have 2 kinds of product one for infections and one for hot spots. Not sure how they differ.

Probably just the packaging. They say the Hypochloric Acid produces some "Oxidative burst" around pathogens identified by the immune system. Maybe it makes more sense to the good doctor?

    Hi,

    Sadly not a doctor. :(

Its use seems to be completely topical though according to their website?

So I cannot for the life of me see how it could even begin to help a respiratory infection.

Remember the old joke "nothing works better than asprin - so use nothing"?

How does it stack up price wise against generic triple antibiotic cream without painkillers?

Either way this is never going to replace getting a culture done and the correct anti-biotic from a vet.

It might be the doggies danglies for topical treatment of open wounds - but it is never going to treat and RI until you teach the snake how to gargle without drowning I think. :P

About the product, it sounds like a lot of not much to me. And as said above, looks topical, not sure how it could replace normal medication for RI.

If it sounds too good to be true...
