Correlations between parent size and offspring size?

Hey all,

This question may seem silly or trivial to those experienced with breeding. My female python was hatched from a pairing between an average sized normal female and a BIG mojave male.

To those who have experience raising their own offspring to adulthood, does an exceptionally large parent increase the chance that the offspring will be larger at maturity?

Though I haven't raised any of my hatchlings through adulthood yet, I can tell you that there can definitely be a connection. Just like morphs, the genes for things like size are passed down from parent to offspring. I noticed this with a couple females from a clutch from one of my larger females a couple years ago. They had mom's more aggresive feeding behavior and I'm pretty sure they'll grow up to be large girls just like mom. She was in the 2,500g range.

the guy you wanna talk to is brain gundy at forgoodness snakes he has a 5000gram 5.5ft girl. I asked him this question already he seems to believe so willl the kids arent 2 yet he has one thats alreadyt nearing 1600 grams. if i remember correctly he said at about 1 most had surpassed 12 grams... He doesnt power feed.

Now, is she big because she's old or is it in her genetics?

My breeder had told me that all the offspring from the large male mojave were excellent eaters and grow fast. Just curious if the genetics could be passed along.

Sure enough, my girl ate within 48 hours of first being purchased and seems live up to expectations. She's 30 inches at only 9 months of age, though I don't know average weights or lengths for certain ages.

I wonder if eating habits are genetic?

I dont remember the year but im sure its takes linger then 3 years to get that big... I know she lays like 11 eggs it think 9 were good at most so far. here is a video from 4 months ago its a newer one of her but its no under his man i cant find it right now... but from the convo i had through email askin what your askin it seems like the genetics may play a part. like i said he says he doesn't power feed that large female its one adult rat once a week.

Tall people have kids that eventually get tall..generally.

Same goes with snakes.

I just wonder if once they get big they can have really strong offspring that can get real big. Idk. It's probably all genes. The Platty Daddy is 11 years old and isn't that big.

I've seen Brian Gungy's big girl and she looks awesome. I also saw one at a local expo that was 12 and HUGE. I kick myself for not getting pics.
