How much have you spent on a pet Ball Python with no breeding intentions?
I'm curious as to how many people are buying morphs as pets and what morphs those might be. Please say what morph you have as a pet!
Re: How much have you spent on a pet Ball Python with no breeding intentions?
I started out with a plain old normal for my first. Than my next 2 snakes were a pastel and a spider.
I got two of my friends hooked on morphs. One started with a pastel and orange belly. The other bought a mojave.
Its really whatever tickles your fancy....some ppl can't fathom spending upperwards of over $200 on a pet. In my mind, if I'm spending that much money on a pet, I'm trying to breed it and also enjoy it.

600 bucks. for my female pin.
i never planed on breeding snakes, EVER.
But... now i am haha

Well, it may be wishful thinking, but I'd really like a BEL and/or a pied one day. And I like the butters and bumble bees too. I don't know if I'd ever breed so if not, they'd just be pets. I raise German Shepherds from true German VA show and working bloodlines so I have NO problem spending oodles on a "pet" - of course, coming up with oodles is another story, lol... :D

I spent $700 on a ball/angolan hybrid without intentions of breeding him. I just think they're beautiful snakes!
Re: How much have you spent on a pet Ball Python with no breeding intentions?
Before I thought of breeding I probably spent over $200 for my first Ball python.
By the way, I use that SAME dish in your avatar for my rat's food:D

it seems people who dont breed first morphs or only morphs are sypders and pastels, at most expos those, seem to be the cheapest.
Re: How much have you spent on a pet Ball Python with no breeding intentions?
There doesn't seem to be a "below $200" category. That is where I would fall with the first normal ball python my family acquired seven years ago. Since then, she has become a breeder, though. Every snake I acquire these days I pretty much consider to be a pet with breeding potential.
Re: How much have you spent on a pet Ball Python with no breeding intentions?
I think its safe to say that a large number of people started out with there first snake asw just a pet. then there are others that saw the money that was involved with breeding and just jumped in.
My first snake was a normal, the second was a pastel and had a female thrown in the deal, i didnt have plans on breeding still, the female was already a breader, which kinda changed that, although she is capable I still have yet to do so.

I bought my pastel for $200. When I bought her, I didn't intend on breeding her. All my others have breeding intentions, but are pets first and foremost.
