Mouse blood/cleaning

I fed my girl today, and I suppose I thawed the mouse in the warm water way too long.

When she was done feeding, there was blood all over (and a tiny chunk of mouse) my feeding container and my snake. I wiped her off as best as I could with paper towels all over.

Should I be washing her with soap though? Should I be worried about the traces of mouse blood and bacteria or any other harmful pathogen?

In another thread tonight, someone's ball python got poop all over himself. Antibacterial soap and, in fact, soap was not encouraged.

I would wait at least 24-36 hours and then wipe the snake down, otherwise you may have a regurge to contend with...

Thanks, I'll pass on the soap and I'll wait another 2 days for the mouse to be digested.

It seems like a good time to change some of the substrate, better safe than sorry cuz I'm paranoid x_x

I may add in that having a separate feeding container isn't necessary. It only adds on stress to the snake and may cause it to refuse.

You can feed the snake in its enclosure, that's where it will feel most secure during feeding time. If the food item gets a bit of substrate on it it's totally fine, they have very strong stomach acids and would need to swallow a huge amount of substrate to become impacted.

when that happened to me. I just wipe them with paper towel and water then change the bedding. i use paper towels though
