Possible illness in boa

My female boa aged 8 has stopped feeding for the last 4 mths. I had a similar problem 4 years ago with another boa,who stopped feeding but looked bloated(i assumed wrongly she was gravid),6 mnths later she died after a bloody mucus was produced from her rear. My vet told me it was probably a stomach illness which is common in boas. My problem lies in i have since moved to greece with all my herps and finding a knowledgeable vet is impossible. She lives in a viv with another boa and a burmese python who as yet have no problems (touch wood). Does anyone have any idea what this could be and how to treat it,i can get antibiotics but dont know if this will help or hinder. THANKYOU

How long has she lived with the other boa and Burm and what size enclosure are they living in? Is she showing any symptoms other than not eating.
My first guess, without any details is that they all need to be separated. If that boa has gotten a disease or something, it will spread quickly. She may not be eating because of stress...

They have lived together since they were small. All temperatures etc are normal,any ideas what else could be stressing her out?CHEERS

The only things I can think of are competing for space, pregnant, or parasites. Since she is living with other snakes, I would say try to find a vet, to rule out parasites or illness, and look into getting them their own enclosures. You might try checking with some of the experts on redtailboa.net to see if they can offer anything more specific than I can...

Thanks alot for your advice, i`m praying shes pregnant but after the last situation i daren`t rely on that. I`ve checked for external parasites and theres no sign,maybe internal? I`ll try redtailboa.com,thanks again.

Managed to find vet who would see her in the capital on Monday morning. Fingers crossed.

Just returned from vets and she has some sort of blood poisoning! There not sure what kind and have to send a blood sample off to the UK for testing. Started her off on a course of strong antibiotics injected twice a day,just hope shes gonna be ok. Moved her into my cooks tank now and the cooks into his older smaller tank(much to his annoyance),just until the all clear comes along. NICE ONE

I hope she is going to be ok. Make sure you keep an eye on the other snakes in case it is contagious. Did the vet have any idea how she may have gotten it, like from an injury or something?

Thanks alot. The vet doesnt have to much of an idea at the moment,waiting for blood results to return from the UK. Scrubbing out the tank with the other biggns in it tonight,will defo keep an eye on them. Vet also said i need to rehydrate her,any ideas how?
