For those of you that use Cypress where is the best place to get in larger bulk? I have been using newspaper while easy just a Pain when rats mess it up or water spills. So just wondering the best place to get cypress bedding in bulk?

    Nurseries

Some manufacturers also sell in bulk

Kamlar has a good reputation amongst keepers for their Cypress, and they sell in bulk, both loose and bagged

Ok thanks. Is the stuff from home depot ok to use for pets? Such as bugs and stuff?

Well I've personally never used it i saw a guy on youtube who said he buys from home depot, I'd guess it's ok to use because i saw the video of the guy using it but maybe you could put it in the oven to kill anything that might be there. Sorry i can't be of anymore help :(

Menards and Home Depot where I live both carry it but it is treated. You wanna make sure it is untreated or it may be bad news bears. Most nurseries can order it for you if they don't already carry it.

I treat mine for mites when I get it. What I do is empty the bag out in chunks and spray it down, add more, and treat, repeat...Also like the above post said make sure its not treated with anything and your good to go. I personally love the stuff. I think it looks better then aspen and is better at holding humidity. Aspen makes my snake room look like I have a bunch of hampsters or some kind of rodent running around and I don't like that lol. Aspen does work good too, thats what I used prior, but cypress is cheaper in bulk and better looking so I changed. Good Luck!

PS I get mine at home depot and lowes for like 3.50-5.00 a bag. Stuff is cheap, YAY!!

Is treating it for mites necessary? And do you use? I used aspen before and it was so messy because its so fine get everywere. Right now Im using newspaper and I hate changing it when they spill there water sometimes like everyday or 2 times a day in breeding.

    Thanks for the replys
