    Concerned about her weight...
Nerissa hasn't eaten in over 6 months, and has dropped from about 1950g down to 1690... she's still technically big enough for breeding, but I stopped introducing the males last month due to her fast. It appears to be too late, however, as she's showing all the signs of being gravid - she glowed in early April, possibly ovulated 2-3 weeks ago, and is now entering a shed cycle. She looks so thin I'm just afraid a pregnancy will harm her, but I guess there's not much I can do now.

Based on her weight loss and the photos below, do you think she'll be okay? I doubt she'll eat before laying, so it looks like another month will pass without feeding. I did speak with her former owner about the problem, and he said she often goes on long winter fasts... he said ASFs usually snap her out of it, but unfortunately those are illegal here in CA. Any thoughts on how she'll handle the pregnancy, and/or whether she'll stop fasting after laying? Has anyone else been in this situation before?

    Here she is today

    Early April, during her "glow"

And back in October, when she was still a plump 1950g...

I would think she should be ok. Also will she normaly take FT? If she will can you order in and offer her a FT ASF?

She's never eaten anything for me (I got her in October), but I think her former owner fed mostly live. Somebody here on BP.net offered to send frozen ASFs, or I'll pick up a bag when I go to San Diego next month... I know a shop in SD that sells them, so I just need to figure out how to drive them back (8 hours). Thanks for the input, both of you!

I wouldn't worry at all. She'll eat just fine after she lays.

She should be ok. Also pick up some dry ice and use a cooler. That should keep em cold long enough.
