Humidity

I am using a cooler incubator and I can not get my humidity to stay up I have a ton of water bottles in there and they are resting directly on the heat tape. Any other tricks to raise the humidity up a bit? THanks

It was my understanding that the water bottles aren't there to increase humidity but to keep the temperature more even.

The humidity just needs to be high in the egg box. The incubating media should take care of this.

Is it ok to lighty mist the egg box? I think that would probably raise the humidity. I would add water to the vermiculite but Ive heard it can be bad with to much water

I forget the water to vermiculite ratio but you want just enough water so you can clump it into a ball and it breaks apart easily.

My gecko friends actually weigh the whole egg box (with eggs and with the incubation media and water) and add water as the weight of the whole thing goes down.

Generally, you want none of the water to escape (thus sealing the egg box with press n seal wrap or something similar).

I don't think adding water is "bad" just make sure the eggs are sopping wet. I personally would not mist the eggs or the egg box directly. You want it humid, not wet.

The water bottles do nothing but help stabilize the temperature in the container.

Is your egg box sealed with glad press n' seal or anything? That always helps keep your humility up.
