Dented eye? Humidity not low!

Ok so my baby just got out of shed Sunday, ate that night so I got him out today for the first time in almost a week and noticed his right eye cap is dented with a vertical line.

His shed was perfect, all in one piece and no retained eyecaps.

his temps are 82.6 ambient
90.3 under his warm hide and the humidity is at 80%

any ideas??

If his eye is dented mist his cage or give him a soak. It happens to me every once in a great while and if I mist the cage down for a day it clears right up for me.

even with his humidity as high as it is right now? I'll give him a mist but I hate to have it up too high

High shouldn't be a problem unless you get the substrate wet and it stays that way and grows mold.

How are you reading humidity?

I dont think it has to do with humidity. It happens to me on rare occasion and I live in Florida. Humidity is 50% at the lowest, Usually 60% and up. There has to be another reason for it.

Happens to my animals sometimes.

I attribute it to them maybe rubbing or bumping the sides of the tubs, it will usually go away.

Otherwise I'll just spray a bit or dump a water bowl for a day and its gone.

You dont really need 80% humidity for Balls though.....

Good question about how your getting your humidity readings. Some are much more reliable then others.

But it could be as simple as he may have bumped into something and dented the eyecap. I have seen my snake fall from her climbing branches many times hehe, so it can definitely be due to an clumsy snake! Up humidity and it should right itself!

wait until next shed and it should come off....happens once in a while, as long as humidity remains constant, next shed should clear it up

Humidity was only at 80 because I had the windows in the house open last night and today and it POURED while I was at work.

I have a Accurite thermometer/hydrometer that I picked up from walmart so that's what I'm basing the reading on. His humidity stays around 54-56% until he goes blue then I bump him up between 60-70%

He was hanging out in his humid hide this evening so I misted him and I'm happy to say the dent popped right out. Still weird though, since I closed the windows and hit the a/c his humidity has dropped, and if we're basing this problem on the humidity being too low... eh, who the hell knows. His eyeball is pretty again and that's all that matters :D
