The perfect leopard gecko?
Ok well im a ball python guy but im looking at getting a leopard gecko for my girlfriend. She has described what she likes so i thought id come on here and describe what she is looking for and see if anybody has any suggestions of what morph would be what she is looking for...
So here it is: yellowish orange, not too much orange(no carrot tail), spotting on the head and tail, also some pattern on the back(spotting, stripes, both, etc.) ive been looking at pictures with her and the closest thing we can find is a normal with the spots striped across the back but she wants it more orange.... shes very picky lol.
Any suggestions or pictures of something like im describing would be great!!
Re: The perfect leopard gecko?
You're describing a hypo or a high yellow. There are some hypos with tangerine influence that tend to be a yellow-orange.
Adults will not have stripes, only spots. Neonates are born with thick bands which eventually break up into spots.
Luckily for you, they are pretty easy to find. Just keep in mind that these animals can vary wildy. Temperature and stress are both huge factors in color.. an animal can look bright one day and be brownish another. As long as she realizes that and is okay with it, then great!
Neonate and Juvenile hypos (they hatch out black and yellow, just like the one on the right):

Juvenile hypo (starting to get spots, losing bands). This is the same animal as the one on the left in the picture above.:

This was my favorite, very little carrot...

She had a perfect heart on her. Unfortunately, she died a while ago.

Here are the current two that I have...

All three of them I got from PetCo and all three will give you a general idea of what you'll find there. I rarely see anything other than normals and leucistics. Though the last normal I got has some nice carrot color at the base of the tail.

Brandon, I really like the one in the second picture... I looked at the raptors and it seems like thats the color she wants. And it looks like that second little guy will have a good bit of pattern to him as he gets older. Would you happen to be selling anytime soon?
And also llovelace I like that one too, is it a normal high yellow? or just normal?

I have not done that with them in a while. Lily (in the cage) loves to hunt. Nolan use to like to be hand fed. So I'd get her out to feed and let Lily run around and catch crickets. Nolan has since given up his snobby selfish ways and now hunts crickets with Lily.
Re: The perfect leopard gecko?
They need to be between 15 and 20 grams and eating well before I can sell them. But they will be for sale when they get to that point.
