Brazilian Rainbow Boa - Switching to f/t. Need advise!!
I have been feeding my 5 month old BRB live hopper mice since I got him in Feb. He has ate no problem at all and I feed him every 6-8 days. I have tried twice to feed him f/t because it is a longer drive to get the live hoppers. However, both times he has been completely uninterested. I have tried giving the mouse a little wiggle to entice him and even tried leaving it over night in his enclosure. Switching to f/t would really make it easier on me so if anyone has some good ideas or known techniques please help me out. Thanks!

I don't have any experience with BRB's, so unless there is something specific they need, I can assume feeding them F/T would be similar to any other snake. Have you tried using a hair dryer to heat up the prey right before offering it? Try thawing the prey in the snake room and while you are heating it, use the hair dryer to blow the scent towards the enclosure to pre-scent it. That's about the best I can offer for now...

You could also try skipping a feeding to get him a little hungrier. I know all my BRB's have been pigs and as they get older I give the prekilled.

Or you could try prekilled first then go to F/T.

Two things Ive done is placing the prey item in the BRBs favorite hide overnight or feeding in a separate, small container and letting it sit in a dark place for a few hours.

So I got him to eat f/t for the first time! I just let the mouse thaw out next to his tub and then moved him into a box where I usually feed him. He was not too interested so I put him and the mouse back into his tub. I came back after about two hours and no more mouse. Hopefully he can make a habit of this!! Thanks for the advise everyone.
