Agressive BP!!!!

Have any of you guys come across an aggressive ball python??? I own a butterscotch ghost that strikes at anyone who picks him up and he NEVER curls up into a ball:confused:

Now my GF is scared of all my other BP's because he tried to take her head off today:O

Just wanted to know if you guys ever had the same experience with any of your BP's..*OUT*


P.S we named him phantom!

My yellowbelly strikes like crazy, but other than him mine are very docile.

How long have you had him? What is the setup, and hides like? Many times, it is stress related, so some pics and info will help.

I have an adult male Pastel who will strike at anyone and anything that comes near his tub. He tagged me really good the other day.

Not 100% of the time but typically a bp that is showing aggressive behavior is typically signs of a stressed animal.

I have seen a case where a guy didn't feed his bp often enough or something that was big enough and it struck at everything that moved. if you went to pick it up or do any maintenance its stricking but once he started feeding it properly it stopped. not saying its the case with this one. but it can happen.

I've also found that some snakes just take more persistence with handling. you have let them bite you over and over, and eventually they get used to the handling and stop. i've had snakes that started out as constant biters but with persistence became some of my most docile snakes.

We have one Het Hypo female that is scared 50% of the time and will strike. The other 50% she is balled up...

SnakeBytes just did a show on aggresive BP's and stated that the darker colored morphs tend to be a bit more aggressive and the lighter colored morphs tend to be more docile. There are, of course, exceptions to every rule, but just something they noticed over the years....

LOL... out? trying to be Ralph Davis? hahaha! Maybe your snakes very stressed out, check husbandry.
