As long as you heat your rooms, the economy racks are getting good reviews.

I've got 4 of them, they are the 12 high CB70 racks. I love them, they are my favorite racks. I've also got boaphile racks, monster-cages racks, vision racks and freedom breeder racks. Animal plastics is hands down my favorite adult rack.

I'm in the market for my 1st rack as well. I am going back & forth between the AP and the Boaphile Rhino Raxx. I am also considering a DIY rack. Researching/comparing along with reading peoples opinions is what I am still doing.:rolleye2:

if your room is not heated get the enclosed rack. I promise you will regret it if not. I have a ap rack that stays in a room that gets about 65 degrees and the rack stays warm as can be. But I also have an open air system ars rack and it does nothing but give me a headache. Ap racks and cages hold heat and humidity excellent but the economy racks are designed for heated rooms

What do you heat your open tubs/racks with when your room gets down to 65 or so? Are you also saying that with the closed in racks belly heat tape brings up the tubs ambient temps to 80 or so even with a 65 degree room? The room I keep my snake in does not get that cold but in the future when I have a few more snakes I may want to move them all to the basement where it can get down into the low 60's in the winter. I do have electric baseboard heat down there that I rarely use but may be forced to. Upstairs is forced warm air but when it gets really cold out (20's with a wind) it can still get into the 60's.

all of my racks are heated with heat tape. The only reason I have an ars rack is because I use to have a heated room and then I had to downsize my collection. Open air rack systems such as the economy racks will not work good in a basement that can get down to 60. If you get the regular racks however they will hold the heat in more.
