This is crazy!
So today was my first day feeding my Hog Island Boa her First small rat today and I was really excited cause I feel like she is finally gonna start putting on weight. With that being said I did everything normal like always, get the tongs, then she snatches it right out of my hand.. So she takes it out of the tongs no problem and then I thought do I watch or not so I decided not but I would go check on her periodically. So I left her alone and then all of a sudden I notice she is steering at her water dish.. And I am like why is she starring at her water dish so I go to look closer and she is following my movement and I am wondering why is she doing this.... Here is the crazy part doing her untangling her prey she must have accidentally dropped it in the water dish and then even more crazy she pulls it out of the water and still eats it... Hahah I never saw that it was like a anaconda eating in water lol. sorry for so long but it was good stuff for me.

Ha very nice. My BP dragged one through the water dish once but I've never had a snake drop it in and then pick it up again. Leave it to a RTB to do something like that. My older female is a garbage disposal ... she eats anything the others snakes refuse.

I love feeding boas!! Such a welcome change from these darned BPs. Though I must admit, short tail pythons are definitely the kings of garbage disposal. (Mine gets most of the leftovers around here simply because he's much bigger than my boa.)

I have one BP girl that loves being submerged ... for long periods of time she'll stay under for 10 minutes easy . Anyways she will occasionly go underwater with a prey item and constrict them there - it doesnt take her long but she stays down there extra because she likes to.

I absolutely love mine! They're really the coolest snakes. They just look really neat with their big fat bellies and stubby heads, and they're... very different pets. They've definitely got personality! Nothing like balls or boas when it comes to handling, but I think they're generally not as aggressive as people make them out to be. They're not an aggressive species, just a slight bit more of a handful than some other snakes. I've had mine for over a year now and I haven't gotten bitten. Struck at, hissed at, and pooped on many times, but never bit. Not great for hanging out while watching TV or surfing the web like a ball or a boa, but shorties are definitely handleable and can become very docile if handled regularly (I don't have the time to handle mine quite as often as I'd like to; I'm sure he would be easier to work with if I did).
Isn't he beautiful? :D
