Re: Snake hiding to much?
That's pretty much what they do, they spend most of their time hiding. :gj:
Re: Snake hiding to much?
SOMETIMES MY BP WILL HIDE FOR A FEW DAYS STRAIGHT AFTER A BIG MEAL. THEY'RE JUST LAZY SNAKES LOL. GOTTA LUV EM :snake:
Re: Snake hiding to much?
Yeah I mean I figured, but if she's gonna shed it would be my first ever BP shed and I'd wanna be on top of it like a pro. Or as close as I could be.
EDIT: yeah she usually chills for a few days after she eats two but I feed on sundays so that ain't it.
Re: Snake hiding to much?
One of my BPs goes very tan on her belly before she sheds!
Re: Snake hiding to much?
Don't think too much of it. A happy ball python is a hiding ball python. It's when they are restless and out all the time you should be worried.
Re: Snake hiding to much?
Are all your hides identical? Some Ball pythons will prefer the more secure hide over the other, so that's why she could be hiding in the cooler one often.
Don't worry too much, if she is new, new Ball pythons normally roam around their enclosures for their first few days to a week in their new home. Don't be too worried if she's hiding too often, that's what you want.
Re: Snake hiding to much?
If shes young it sounds like her setup could be overwelming (like too much space)with three hides. If she is a neonate she'll do better in a more confined space.
Re: Snake hiding to much?
Mine will sometimes spend more time hiding every now and again in his case usually after a somewhat bigger meal or shed. I am sure that in a week or two yours will resume the nightly meanderings. Coming out at night is normal and follows a natural pattern, give it some time and every thing will return to normal. Good Luck

No I use identical hides, what I like to call my upturned flowerpot lid special.
I think I am probably just worrying to much, her cage is big enough for an adult but I put in extra hides and clutter and she's thriving. I just can't help but wonder if she's due for a shed because I got her at the end of march and she hasn't shed yet.
