would a cool mist or warm mist humidifier work best for a reptile room?

Re: Humidifier help
Why would you need one? To humidify a whole room to the amount you need for a ball python you're at risk of mold issues on your walls. (Unless you've purposely treated your walls to prevent water damage)
You should increase humidity of your tanks/tubs, not the room. There are many easier ways to do this, look at the care sheets.
For tanks you can mist the area, keep a towel over the tank, move to tubs.
In tubs you shouldn't have much of an issues at all.

I'm putting the humidifier in a reptile room that doesn't just house ball pythons. And although most of the enclosures have no problem maintaining humidity, some of them do

Well if your temps are controlled the cool water will be fine, if your temps fluctuate, warm water. Either will add humidity. You could try both and keep the one you like.
I still suggest not keeping it on all the time unless you don't mind mold issues.

Cool mist would be fine, but make sure you get an Ultrasonic Humidifier and nothing else. Typically cool mist stands for ultrasonic, but just make sure the humidifier is ultrasonic. Also look under the thread for humidity solved on this same page.

Re: Humidifier help
I found with my room that when I added a humidifier that ran fan system over an evaporation system it would click on and in ten min the alarms were going off as the temps dropped 7-10 degrees the cycle constantly repeated. Based on my experience I'd try a warm mist one the temps won't tank on you as much and the particles of water are much smaller and disperse better. Personally I got rid of it and have been using a porous rock (rainbow stone and or sandstone.) any rock the bubbles when you soak it will work it slowly releases the water to the enclosure. I found it raised the humidity about 10% and lasts for 4 days. I then trade the dry stone for a just soaked one. Just my solution I don't know if it will work in your set up but it did in mine.

Re: Humidifier help
My boyfriend and I decided to just leave the humidifier idea alone for now and got a mister for the room instead. We're trying to set up one of the two spare bedrooms in our house as a reptile room but we're trying to get everything spot on. So far, the temps have been perfect without having to adjust anything. But we've added some potted plants to the room and it helped a bit. We're also hoping the mister solves our problems with the humidity. Thanks for the feedback :)
