First leopard

I haven't been around much for quite some time. I used to have several corn snakes that I kept at school where i worked, but long story short, my boss told me I couldn't keep them there anymore. I couldn't bring them home, so they had to be sold, for basically nothing to a local pet store. I've been out of herps since then. A couple months ago, the guy that replaced my old boss (who is a good friend of mine) wanted to breed the female gecko in his office, with one of his bosses males. I told him I would do the work of breeding and caring for the eggs, for one of the babies. Another long story short, that never happened. I did however during that period of discussion with him, get my parents to ok me having a leopard gecko. For my graduation present, my girlfriend bought me my first leo, so I'm back :D.

Its pretty small, so I'm not sure of the sex yet. It has shed once for me already, and had a very clean shed. I did notice that it only ate part of the shed. I'm only used to dealing with adult leos, and I know they usually eat it all. I'm not sure if that is normal or not for younger leos. So far I haven't really got to handle it yet, I'm still working on taming it. I'll get some pictures posted tonight.

Very cool! Mine don'e eat all the shed (either one and I've had them since they were babies). One time the entire back was left in the tank after a shed and I let it stay in the tank for another day before removing it. Other times, I'll see one go white and then the next day she's (I have two females) beautiful with no signs of shed left in the tank. So don't worry about it.

Good to know thats normal. Like I said, all the leos I have dealt with at school always ate the whole shed, so I wasn't sure.

I've had leos also not eat all their shed so it is nothing to worry about :gj:

My leo is sheding again. It's saddles seem to be fading, and it's spots being more pronounced. It looks to be a female, but I'm not sure how big they need to be before i can be sure. It's tail is also starting to plump up quite a bit from those pics. Its amazing the difference a week can make. I'll try to get some new pics up ASAP after the shed.

Cute thing! It will take a while to determine the sex...at least I can't tell at that age.

I couldn't wait till after the shed. I know the pics aren't very good, but I really wanted to show the growth in it's tail in the week or so since the last pics.
