I think I need to intervene.....
This fasting issue with my female bp has gone on long enough - more than 5 months now - so I think its time for me to do something drastic. I am thinking about setting up a tub for her and moving her out of her 2x3 RBI cage.

Can anyone tell me what size tub to get and what size heatpad to get?? She is currently almost 1,600 grams. Do I put just one hide in the tub with her or no hides?? Can I put the tub inside her original enclosure - just to make it more private for her??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

I would put her in a 32 quart tub with hide and yes you can put it right in her enclosure. If it can be placed partially over the heating element of enclosure then you are all set. I put tubs in a vision cage I have when I need to do quarrantines on little ones.

My current cage is heated with an RHP so I figured I would have to put a UTH on the tub and then put it inside the larger cage. I would then disconnect the RHP for the duration that the tub is in there.

Would this work?? What size UTH should I get.

a 10-20g UTH or maybe a size up would be fine. Just enough to cover about 1/3 of the tub.

    sounds good!!

Kaorte, Do you think this is a good way to go - in regards to moving her to a tub. She's been in this same cage for two years - I would hate to not be able to ever use it again.

I think its a good idea. If she can never go back in the RBI cage you can always get another snake for that cage! lol!

LOL - that's all I need - I am giving you guys enough trouble with all my questions on the measely 4 snakes I currently have.

How long should I leave her in the tub before trying to switch her back to the larger cage once she is eating again.

4-5 consistent meals would probably be good.

Yeah, but you know what you are doing - and I do not!!!!

I'm learning more every day though - I can't believe how much I have learned in the short 2 years that I have been keeping snakes.

    Thanks for all the help.

i have my female normal that had gone 5 months without feeding....it stop feeding around the beginning of december & just yesterday ate once again for me after 5 long miserable months... A guy well known here (Big Gunns) suggested to just offer food once in a while and they will eat whenever they feel like it...well thats what i exactly did & finally ate...& she is in a 60 gallon tank which is 4 feet long...i think you should just let it be & eventually it will eat once again.
