Normal Female?

I am getting paid tomarow. I plan on buying a normal female. I don't want a hatchling or anything 3 months or younger. I was wondering if you guys know of any breeders I can order a normal female from thats late 08 or early 09 thats around 400 grams almost? Also, how much should I expect to pay? I was thinking 50-60 bucks?

How old does a female have to be before breeding? And how much should she weigh? I don't plan on breeding anytime soon but I would rather buy one thats a little bigger than 300 grams so that I can start breeding at least within this year hopefully when my collection is a bit bigger and I figure out for sure what I am shooting for.

A female usually is able to breed when she is around 3 years or older and the heavier the better. (usually averaging around 1500g)

A male may be ready in as little as a year after hatching.

There are tons of threads on here that will answer all your questions! Just search for key words such as "breeding weight" or just mix and match until you find what you want. Just think up key words about your question and search away.

Although the words have to be a certain # of characters long...I think it's 4...or 5....or 4....haha idk. 4 or 5 characters long at the minimum.

But the person above me is correct.

Buying a female at around 300 grams wont be able to breed in a year. Females should be at least 3 years and around 1500 grams minimum. Though i feel 1800 grams is better. Breeding can be a very stressful thing on females and very taxing.

Yeah I know there is threads on that stuff but the main question was where could I go buy one and how much would they cost around. You coulda just been cool and answered my question for me instead of pointing that out. Thanks anyways.

Well I don't really know of any local breeders in your area, but a good place to start would be the Classifieds at Kingsnake.com or FaunaClassifieds.com. You can also check right in the middle of the first page of Kingsnake.com. There is a list of shows for the year. One may be coming up in your area. At least you can find out who may be in your area and contact them about the availability of normal females. If you are hoping to breed this year, you better look for a girl at least close to 1500 grams. That's the minimum weight most people recommend breeding at and the Fall/Winter season is only about 4 or 5 months away. That means you have very little time to get a female, 1 or 2 males to put her with, and get them settled in and established, fattened up for the fasting, set up an incubator for the eggs, and some type of hatchling rack...

Kingsnake.com is your friend in this situation. You can find "Breedable" females, EVEN Virgins at or OVER 1300grams for about 75$-150$....Definatly worth it if your looking to breed asap....

Yeah, kingsnake is a good way to go. And you can use the faunaclassifieds BoI to check if the seller has any weird history of selling sick animals or shipping improperly.

Craigslist is a good way to find snakes within driving distance that need new homes. It's the equivalent of getting a pound puppy. But there is more risk of the person not actually sexing the snake correctly.

Oh, don't forget to ask what the snake eats! Adults and subadults are usually more set in their eating habits than hatchlings. If the snake only takes live ASFs, and you only feed f/t mice, you may want to find a different one.
