a few more questions about tubs
should i use clear or colored tubs. and would it make a differrence if i didn't have a hot side and cool side just use ambient air temps. sorry if this sounds ignorant just wondering .
Re: a few more questions about tubs
Ball pythons require a thermal gradient in order to maintain their bodyheat and keep their immune system active to prevent illness. They require a hot side as well in order to digest their food, So yes you must have a hot side of about 90- 95 degrees and ambient temps of around 80 degrees as a cool side. Checkout the care sheet in the hubandry forum it will help you understand things better. Good luck
Re: a few more questions about tubs
I agree with Ed, they do much better with a warm and a cool side to regulate themselves in.
Can they survive without? yes, but they eat and regulate themselves much nicer with belly heat on one side.
I use clear tubs and wouldn't have it any other way.
I can watch live feedings from a distance with the tub closed.
I also can check for lock ups while breeding without opening a tub, etc..

UTH targets the digestion process better in ball pythons.
:)
