    BP going to school
the school approved a showing of my sons bp. So i will be speaking to a class of 4th graders. Im not allowed to take him out of his carrier, which is fine, i wouldnt want all the kid touching him and stressing him out. I thought I would give a little history and then go into eating habits, husbandry..I have to keep it entertaing. Any sugesttions? A link to a good all around fact sheet? Dont have much time to prepare...its 2morrow at 3. Also a list of all known python types and there native lands...thanks

I have taken my big female bp to high school a few times. She was very popular to say the least. Everyone sat in a circle and she crawled over everyone's lap. She was so calm and docile, and everyone was very gentle with her. The most questions I got was about how big she'd get, how old she was, what she ate, how much, etc. All the simple stuff.

hes still a baby and the teacher said we cant even take him out. im going to reread all the great links and then just kinda see how the kids want it to go...the kids are really excited. they have been talking to my son all day about it....I guess bp owners are rare here in southeast Texas

the kids WILL ask you how do you know it is a boy...or a girl. Just say...the same way you know your a boy or a girl.

Seriously...I was asked that and the first time.....I froze.

Oh yeah, we take the boys to a pre-school and do a critter show for them, including Mr. Biggs. The parents all sign a release notice and all the boys get to come out and sniff the air for a while while we talk.

Our daughter took Elvis outta his snake bag (our Kingsnake) and of course all the kids went "Oooooo" and "Aaaaah". The one kid up towards the front raises his hand all excited like, so my wife calls on him. It went something like this...

    "Yes, you have a question?"
"Uh-huh. Well, once my Dad and us kids - we found a Kingsnake in our backyard once."
"Really?! Did it look just like Elvis here?"
"Yeah, it did. Then my Dad started whacking it with a shovel and we threw rocks at it."

    ...sigh...
