At first I thought it was too much...

But then I thought about it, and he broke the law. He was running from authority and nobody at the time knew what his motives were. Flashback to the Royals 1st base coach getting jumped by the two idiots on the field a few years ago...

Kid broke the law...plain and simple.

Coming from someone who grew up in KC and now lives outside of Philly, I remember when that incident happened with those guys jumping the first baseman. As for the tazing incident in Philly, I see NO problem with the cop's actions and handling of the situation. The kid knew what he was doing was wrong and against the law. He jumped out on the field and made a b-line from right field to left field, then when the security guards started pursuing him, he started running around trying to evade them. Nobody knew what this kid's intentions were when he jumped on the field. Nobody could be sure that he was a kid out for his 15 seconds in the spotlight or if he was some terrorist with explosives strapped to himself. The cop had a few seconds to decide how to handle the situation. He could have continued to chase this idiot all over the outfield and hope that he tired out enough that they could catch him. Or the cop could pull out the department issued tazer and end the situation with the push of a button. I think he made the right call...

Oh, and the other idiot who decided to jump on the field last night was even MORE of an idiot than the first guy. This guy ran out on the field, but rather than having to taze him, he gave himself up. Guess he didn't think about the fact that he had DRUGS IN HIS POCKET when he decided to jump the fence... lol
