Found snake and bird, please help identify

Pretty sure it's a common king snake which is not native here in GA. He doesn't try and strike at all. If he was someones pet, what should I do with it. Of course if it's a native species I need to let it go.

I also found a bird today. Can you help with that too? I think it hit my front window because he was on my porch this morning. He's currently in a cat carrier so the neighborhood cats won't eat him. I thought he was a goner, but he seems to be doing well now. I guess he was just stunned. I will watch him for a little while longer and try a release, good idea?

It is a kingsnake and a quick search said it is native to your area..
Looks to be an eastern chain king and maybe intergrated with L.g niger which is also stated to be in your neck of the woods..:snake:

You're right! I didn't think they were because you can't have native snakes as pets and they sell kings at the pet store. I got him transfered to a 12 quart sterilite. Guess I'll let him go. He still seems like someones pet. Has not tried to bite yet and I thought he would when trying to get him into the tub. He's three feet so that's a small tub for him. He immediately curled up in the hide, but I guess that's their instinct. Though my pet snakes don't do that ;)

Bird could be a brown thrush? Someone else might know from that pic, but Id need to see alittle more of it.

He probably stunned himself on your windows if he seems better, we have sparrows do that all the time here.

He ate about 5-6 meal worms and he's hopping around. I'll watch him a little longer and let him go this afternoon. Thanks guys!

It does look like a thrush, but a very young one. The best thing to do is let it go immediately. If it is a young one, it's parent(s) will be looking for it, so let it go near the spot you found it. With young birds, they jump out of the nest before they can fly, and spend a few weeks hopping around in the bushes learning, with mom and dad bringing them food. This often causes people to bring catch and take them places, thinking they need help. It sounds like he was learning and hit your windshield. I'm glad he's okay though! They're pretty good at coming back from hitting things :)

OK GUYS,

The bird I let go right after musicalKeyes said it would be the best thing. Apparently he wasn't a baby, he flew off very strong and very far away.

The king just struck at me so Now is probably the best time to let him go ;) I swear they sell kings just like him at the store up the road, but he's stressed, just cruising around the tub trying to find a way out. Best thing would be to let him go.

On a side note about the king, he was headed strait to my neighbors house with his two daughters playing in the yard. If he saw it first, I'll bet dollars to donuts he would have killed it.

jfreels- try educating your neighbor & maybe try to teach him that you know for sure that the kingsnakes are not dangerous should it or another come crawling back. look up venomous snakes in your area & try to get a good look at the pics so you guys will be able to recognize them should you or your neighbor find one. thats what i'd do anyways.
sounds like your neighbor needs some education on which snakes are good & which are bad.

I'd have to find a place with no people :( I'd have to check into the laws for relocating non-venomous species. There are special rules for HOTS, not sure if the same goes for other snakes. I'll find out though.

I don't even want them knowing I own snakes. I know this sounds like a good thing to do, but the last thing I want is them to think my boa will escape and eat their kids. I live in one of those neighborhoods where there is no HOA, but certain people in the community believe there is one. A fictional one that revolves around what they believe their standard of living is. If anyone strays from that view that they have in their head, you get talked about to everyone behind your back. I know because they would talk to me or my wife about the "degenerates" up the road or the neighbor that had the pit tied to the tree (behind MY house and THEY reported it...that's another thread). I was very offended. So I stopped listening to them. We have not talked in probably 2 years now.

Anyway, tldr; Don't want the neighborhood to live in fear because I have snakes. Stupid I know, but I'll listen to BG on this one.
