I suggest not going with a dial because they tend to be pretty inaccurate at times, I went to walmart and just bought a cheap digital but I have both a temp/hygro that is digital and dial right above one another in my main enclosure so I can get a pretty accurate idea of their levels.

Re: Hygrometer
im gonna try out the flukers digital thermometer/humidity gauge from reptilesupply.com for $17.66. the accu-rite everyone here has is a little cheaper, but this is the one im gonna try first.

We say try the accu-rite over the flukers because the accu-rite has a probe and the flukers dont.
Which means you still need a therm with a prob
So now you need to buy 2 devices instead of 1

Re: Hygrometer
Dont waste your money on the flukers, mine was $25 and i used a coupon and my discount to buy it for like $18 and i still want my money back. The hygrometer only works when it wants to and when it does, its very inaccurate. My Accurite thermometers are all right on the dot with my temp gun, so cheaper in this case IS better.

the Acu-rite unit will go on the cool side. That will be your "indoor" temp on the display. The probe should go under the substrate, directly over the UTH. That way you can tell what the max temp that your snake could come into contact with. This will be the "outdoor" temp on the display...
