The Issue:
Louisiana is the latest state to attempt to ban possession of certain reptiles and amphibians. House Bill 1354 would require wholesale/retail dealers to obtain permits for the sale, importation, or handling of native reptile and amphibian species, as well as permits for private possession of constrictor snakes over 12 feet long and listed venomous snakes. HB 1354 will be heard before the House Natural Resources & Environment Committee on Wednesday, May 5th (Room 4 at 9:30 a.m.).
