SURPRISE! I got eggs - advice please
    Hello!!!

I came home the other day - we had just moved to a new place and found my huge goldfish dead. Bummer right - Well after dealing with that I went to check on one of my balls. I had rescued this little girl about a year and half a go. I had a really good feeling that it was a girl from her size but wasn't a 100% sure.

I go to pic her up as she was coild as she usually is in her hide and as soon as I pick her up I can see there is something white in the very center of her coil! I went "what the hell is that" - I immediately put her down and stepped back looking and looking finally realizing that they were eggs!! I was wowed! Never had that happen before.

I got them out and put them in a make shift incubator. I don't expect these to develop - I wasn't aware or ready of course for anything like this but it would be cool!

They don't look like slugs being white but they are VERY dimpled. I was wondering what you think and if you think there is any hope - really anything at all. I wasn't ready for something like this but it's nice.

Here is a picture I snapped.

How do you know when they good bad? I know about the candeling and tried that.

    THANK YOU!!!

I know some eggs can come back from being dimpled. I'm not sure about those though, I don't have any experience breeding.

    Good luck!

Ive hatched corn eggs that were more dimpled than that but I havent had that issues with ball eggs. I would definitely keep incubating them.

It must have happened when I put another snake in there some time ago. I get my girlfriend to take one to her class and she brings it home sometimes. I didn't remember putting them together but I must have as she laid some eggs.

Thanks for the kind words and I'll see what happens and let everyone know.

How do you know when they go bad though? mold of course but is there something else that happens too?

Well, they are nice and white. If they are alive, they should plump up now that you have them in a properly humid environment. Keep temperatures stable within 2 degrees of 88F, and wait and see.

Make sure that they are NOT in direct contact with water, but the humidity is as close to 100% as possible.

How do the eggs feel? If they have some 'give' to them, they may be alive. If they're hard/rubbery inside, they're gone.

They are very giveable. They are not hard at all! Keeping the humid up but since I reallty wasn't ready for this I am very concerned about the temps as I just have a heat lamp above them and a pad under.

I am trying to keep them dry but with high humidity. It's been 2 days - is there some give if I can get the perfect incubator situation set up asap that they might still make it or do they go bad fast? I'm sure there is no hard fast rule when it comes to that just wondering if I should try at this point.

    Thanks again!!!

They look like they need more humidity.

    But they look viable.

They should stay good for at least a day or two like that while you find a good incubator.

    Good luck!!!

They are a little dry. Grab a water bottle and spray them down to hydrate them a little bit. You have to bring them back slowly so mist the eggs every day for a bit. I find that if I add water to the substrate you can add too much and then you can run into trouble killing the eggs. Spraying directly onto the eggs will not hurt them in any ways.

PS If they pip and the babies are dry inside take some luke warm water and poor it into the egg to hydrate the baby.

I know the females can hang onto the sperm for quite some time but I don't know about 18 months... Good Luck...
