*ATTN COMPUTER WIZARDS: How to convert .mov to an .avi?
Ok...I am not very computer savvy...
I currently am running Mac OSX, I have snow Leopard. I have a few .mov files that I would like to convert to either .avi or .mpeg files so I can use them in Windows Movie Maker.
I know on older quicktime players there was an export option. I have quicktime player pro...and now there is no export option. I have surfed the web a bit and downloaded some shareware programs that did the conversion...however the output files all had watermarks. This is for a school project so I would rather not have watermarks on my final product. :)
Does anyone know of any good [preferably free since this is probably the only time I will use it] programs that will allow me to convert .mov files to another video format where the final product has no watermarks.
...wow. Does that make sense?

This is an online file converter I have used before, works well and sends the file to your email. You can use it to download and convert videos off youtube or convert your own files.
There are some pop ups and annoying adds but it is free and I have been using it for years with no problem.
Oh and there's no water mark but there is a size limit. I've never hit it though.

Edit: sorry, I did read your post but for some reason the Mac thing escaped me when I went to find a link for what I use. iMovie won't do it??

This has worked the best....thank you. However, after the file is converted, the movie shrinks from about 1000x1200 or whatever to 840xsomething or rather and the move is kind of 'jerky' when played. Any idea how not to get the output to shrink in size? It is going to be projected so I want to keep the resolution at the highest quality possible.

Do you need a .avi file or would a .mp4 work?
EDIT: Check out iSquint.

That will get you to mp4. Miro might also work but I don't know about that.
